Your Systeme.io Funnel Is Not Converting. Here Is Where To Look

A diagnosis order that finds the real problem instead of redesigning the page again.

Before you change the page, find out where people stop. The fix is almost never where you assume.

When a funnel is not converting, the instinct is to redesign the sales page. It feels productive and it almost never helps, because the page is only one of four places a person can drop out. They can fail to arrive, arrive and leave, start the checkout and abandon it, or buy and refund. Each of those has a different cause and a different fix. This article gives you an order to check them in, so you spend your effort on the step that is actually leaking instead of the one that is easiest to fiddle with.

Step one: check that anyone is arriving

Look at the visitor count on the sales page itself, not on your whole site. It is common to discover that the page you have been agonising over has had a couple of dozen visits in a month, at which point there is nothing to diagnose. You have a traffic problem, not a conversion problem.

Small numbers also swing randomly. Two sales from thirty visitors and zero from the next thirty is normal noise, not evidence that something broke.

Step two: check where they stop on the page

A scroll or heat map shows how far people read. If most people leave in the first screen, the headline is not matching what they expected when they clicked, and the fix is upstream in your ad or post rather than in the page body.

If they read most of the way and leave near the price, that is an offer or value problem: they understood it and decided it was not worth it. Rewriting the headline will not touch that.

Step three: check the checkout itself

Go through your own checkout on a phone, on a laptop, and with a card that is not yours if you can. Look for surprises: a price that changes, an unexpected recurring charge, a field that is hard to fill on mobile, a slow page.

Also check the failure path. What does a buyer see when a card is declined? If they get a dead end, some of them assume the business is broken rather than trying another card.

Step four: check the offer, honestly

If the traffic is real, the page reads fine and the checkout works, the offer is the problem. Usually one of three things: the promise is vague, the price does not match the perceived value, or the buyer does not believe it will work for them specifically.

The fastest way to find out is to ask five people who fit your audience and did not buy. Not what they think of the page. What they would have needed to be true to say yes.

What not to do while you are diagnosing

Do not change five things at once. If you rewrite the headline, change the price, add testimonials and redesign the button in one afternoon, you will never know which one moved the number, and you will not be able to undo the one that hurt.

Do not add complexity to escape the problem. Adding an upsell, a countdown timer and a second lead magnet to a funnel nobody is buying from just gives you more surfaces to maintain and more places to break.

The short version

  • Check the visitor count first — most quiet funnels are a traffic problem, not a page problem.
  • Early drop-off means the headline does not match what people were promised on the click.
  • Drop-off near the price is an offer problem, and rewriting the headline will not fix it.
  • Walk your own checkout on mobile and check what a declined card sees.
  • Change one thing at a time, and never add complexity to a funnel nobody is buying from.

Common questions

What conversion rate should my funnel get?

There is no honest universal number, because it depends on price, offer type and how warm the traffic is. Comparing yourself to a figure from someone else is mostly a way to feel bad. Track your own page over time, and treat your previous month as the benchmark you are trying to beat.

Should I lower my price if nobody is buying?

Not first. Price is the easiest thing to change and the least likely to be the real problem. A vague promise or a buyer who does not believe it applies to them will not buy at half price either. Fix clarity and proof first, and treat a price change as a deliberate test rather than a reflex.

How do I get feedback from people who did not buy?

Ask directly and make it easy. A short message to five people in your audience asking what would have needed to be true for this to be a yes usually produces more usable information than a month of tinkering. Ask about their situation, not about your design, because design opinions are cheap and rarely predictive.

Is it worth rebuilding the funnel from scratch?

Rarely. Rebuilding feels like progress and usually reintroduces problems you had already solved. Fix the specific step that is leaking. A full rebuild makes sense when the offer itself has genuinely changed, in which case you are not rebuilding the funnel — you are building a different one for a different thing.
