Build A Systeme.io Landing Page That Collects Emails

What to put on a one-page opt-in, what to leave off, and how to deliver the freebie automatically.

By Brittany Johnson · August 26, 2026 · 7 min read

An opt-in page has one job. Every extra thing you add to it is competition for that job.

A Systeme.io landing page is the simplest useful thing you can build online: one page, one promise, one box for an email address. People land, they decide whether your free thing is worth their address, and they either type it or leave. If you have never built one, the hard part is not the software. It is resisting the urge to add. A second button, a menu, your full story, links to your social profiles, all of it quietly lowers the number of people who do the one thing you wanted. Here is what belongs on the page, what to cut, and how to get the freebie delivered without you touching anything.

Decide what you are giving away first

The offer decides everything else. A useful free thing solves one narrow problem quickly: a checklist, a template, a short guide, a swipe file, a calculator. Broad and vague things like a free newsletter get ignored, because nobody can picture what they receive.

Write the promise as a single sentence a stranger would understand: the exact list of what to prepare before your first webinar, for example. If you cannot write that sentence, the free thing is not narrow enough yet.

What goes on the page

A headline that states the promise. One or two lines explaining what it is and who it helps. An image of the thing if it has a cover. One email field and one button. That is the whole page. If you want more, add a short line under the button telling them what will land in their inbox and how soon.

Leave off the navigation menu, the links to other pages, the long biography and the social icons. Anything clickable that is not the button is an exit.

Set up the delivery inside Systeme.io

Inside your funnel, the opt-in step captures the address and then sends the visitor to the next step, usually a thank-you or download page. Attach an automation rule so the same address also receives an email containing the file or the link, because people close tabs and lose pages.

Test it with your own address before you promote anything. Opt in, watch which page loads, then open the email and click the download link. Broken delivery is the fastest way to lose a new subscriber permanently.

Write the confirmation so they open the next email too

The delivery email is the most opened email you will ever send. Use it. Give the file at the top, then in two sentences tell them what is coming next and roughly when. A reader who knows another useful email is on the way is far more likely to open it.

Keep the tone the same as the page. If the page sounded like a person and the email sounds like a company newsletter, the mismatch registers even if nobody can name it.

How to tell if the page is working

Watch two numbers: how many people reach the page and how many give you an address. If almost nobody opts in, the free thing is not desirable enough or the promise is unclear. If a lot of people opt in but nobody ever buys anything later, the free thing may be attracting people who do not want what you sell.

Change one thing at a time. Swap the headline, wait for the same amount of traffic to pass through, then compare. Changing five things at once tells you nothing about which one mattered.

The short version

  • Give away one narrow, specific thing you can describe in a single sentence.
  • Keep the page to a headline, a short explanation, one field and one button.
  • Remove menus, extra links and social icons — every click that is not the button is an exit.
  • Deliver by email as well as on-screen, and test the whole flow with your own address.
  • Change one element at a time so you know what actually moved the number.

Common questions

Do I need a paid plan to collect emails in Systeme.io?

The free plan includes email contacts up to a limit, so you can start collecting and sending without paying. The limits are on the number of contacts and funnels rather than the ability to capture addresses. Check the current numbers on the Systeme.io pricing page before you build, since plan limits change from time to time.

Should I ask for a name as well as an email?

Every extra field lowers the number of people who finish, so only ask for a name if you will genuinely use it. If your emails address people by first name and it makes them read better, the trade is usually worth it. If you would never use the name, do not collect it.

What if people give fake email addresses?

Some always will, especially if the free thing appears immediately on the next page. Delivering the file only by email reduces it, because a fake address gets nothing. Do not fight this too hard. A few fake addresses cost you nothing, while an annoying multi-step confirmation costs you real subscribers.

How long should my landing page be?

Short. For something free, the decision is small, so people do not need much information. One screen on a phone is a good target. Length earns its place when the ask is bigger, like a purchase or an application, where the reader genuinely needs more before deciding.
