A Digital Marketing Strategy for Coaches and Consultants

Selling expertise is different from selling a product. Here's the strategy that fits what you actually sell.

Nobody buys coaching. They buy the specific outcome they've failed to reach on their own.

Marketing advice written for products does not transfer cleanly to expertise. You are not selling a thing someone can inspect — you are selling a judgement they cannot evaluate before buying. That single difference changes the strategy completely.

Sell the outcome, never the sessions

'Six one-hour calls' describes your delivery, not their result. It invites a comparison on price per hour, which is the worst possible frame for expertise.

Lead with what is different afterwards, for a specific person, within a specific timeframe. The sessions are how it happens, mentioned once, near the end.

Make your thinking visible

Buyers cannot assess your skill in advance, so they assess your thinking as a proxy. That means the single most valuable thing you can publish is how you reason about problems in your field — not tips, not motivation, reasoning.

One genuinely useful breakdown of a real situation does more than thirty inspirational posts. It lets someone simulate what working with you would be like.

Name your method

Everyone in your field says roughly the same things. A named method with a handful of clear steps makes your version specific, repeatable, and much easier for someone to recommend to a colleague.

It does not need to be novel. It needs to be yours, stated the same way every time, so that people can hold it in their head.

Use a presentation, not just a call

Discovery calls do not scale and they put you in the position of convincing one person at a time. A live or recorded workshop lets you change how a room thinks about the problem before anyone talks to you.

The people who then book a call have already accepted the method. The call becomes a fit conversation instead of a persuasion attempt, and close rates go up accordingly.

Price on the outcome, and say the price

Hourly pricing punishes you for getting faster. Price the engagement against what the outcome is worth to them.

And publish a price or a range. Hiding it filters out serious buyers who will not chase a quote, while attracting people who will book a call purely to find out.

The minimum viable strategy

One page that states the outcome, the person and the method. One workshop or recorded presentation that teaches the method properly. One email sequence that handles hesitation. One place where you publish your thinking regularly.

That is the whole thing. Everything else is optimisation, and optimising something that does not exist yet is how people spend a year busy.

The short version

  • Lead with the outcome; sessions are delivery detail.
  • Publishing your reasoning is the best proof of expertise.
  • A named method makes you specific and referable.
  • A presentation converts better than one-to-one persuasion.
  • Publish the price — hiding it filters out serious buyers.

Common questions

How do coaches get clients without posting daily?

By publishing fewer, deeper pieces that show how you think, and putting a proper follow-up sequence behind them. Reach matters far less than depth when you're selling judgement.

Should I offer a free discovery call?

Yes, but after something that has already done the persuading — a workshop, a presentation, or a thorough page. A call used for convincing is an expensive way to spend your week.

How do I price coaching?

Against the value of the outcome, not your hours. Then state it publicly so the people who arrive have already accepted the range.

Turn what you just read into an offer that actually sells

Your method, your page, your workshop and your emails all have to tell the same story to work. OfferConverter AI is a tool that builds your whole sales campaign from one set of answers about your offer. You tell it who you help, what you sell, and what result you deliver — and it writes your webinar or presentation script, your funnel pages, your follow-up emails, and your ad copy so every piece makes the same promise instead of contradicting each other.
